Is the discussion of psychoactive plants frowned upon here? I don't want to get in trouble...
There are plenty legal psychoactives, so if legality is a problem I can avoid those botanicals...

I'll tell you right now... I'm not about getting high, I'm about the preservation of shamanic knowledge and plants, preservation of cultural knowledge from societies which are quickly disappearing.
I would love to discuss this with the intelligent people here...
It isn't a subject that has ever come up here before to my knowledge therefore I'd hazard a guess that it isn't of much interest to the average Isher! I'm sure there are forums out there which are more specialised on this subject which might interest you. Have a look around this forum and see the sorts of things that people here are interested in discussing. You've already said that you are interested in organic gardening and medicinal plants etc so why not join in discussions on these subjects which is more in keeping with this site and its ethos.
As an ex drug worker I can attest that my clients had often made bad choices in life, but they were definitely not "stupid druggies".
One of the best things about this forum is that we don't condemn people because they're not "our sort" - whatever that is. As far as I'm concerned you're entitled to your opinions - I just don't welcome you airing ones like this here.

I was actually referring to people on other "entheogen" forums I have met that extol the uses of heroin or other narcotics and actively use and promote them. Some people also make the foolish claim that all drugs should be legal. I am looking to stay away from sites like that and move to a "greener" community, but I'd like to know that at least some people share my interest in shamanism, entheogens and beneficial plant psychoactives.
The only conversations we have had previously about psychoactive substances have regarded whether hemp can be turned ito Marijuana, because a member found some growing in their garden.
We do not condone the use of illegal drugs, or illegal activities. As i'm sure you are aware, there are different laws in different countries regarding psychoactive substancs, including ethneogens. In the UK, it is illegal to process magic mushrooms in any way to digest, including drying them or making them into tea. Yahweh is illegal. In the UK, Khat is not illegal, but in the US it is, so therefore we discourage any conversations regarding the cultivation, preparation and use of ethneogens, chemical enhancements or any 0other illegal recreational drug.
If you would like to talk about the cultivation of plants such as the toothache plant, St John's wort, or any other known and unknown medicinal herb, then please do, but please stay away from ethneobiology aimed at those who wish to use such substances recreationally.

I think the users of the site are more interested in edible plants that don't have other effects. But I guess you know that now
It's kinda like if you have an idea that can be used to the 'wrong' ends it's best to keep it to yourself. It prevents bad influences & negative karma. It's why true Shamen pick their students carefully. To ensure positive use of knowlage. Without knowing a person a while you never get to see their ethics & the web is not a good place to get to know someone.
Learning you can get stuff to eat which is both free & safe is far more usefull & it's a skill we're going to need again. Good luck finding your teacher.
