Big Cook Little Cook!
Used the 'gardeners pickle' recipe from yesterdays big cook little cook on cbeebies with my glut of peppers (purple, orange, yellow, red and green) and added a few extra pickling spices... looks and smells well tasty! will have to let u know how it tastes. has anyone else made anything from big cook little cook?

Not having any 'little cooks' this wasn't a programme I was aware of. I bet your pickle looks fab, n'mind it's taste. Rainbow pickle would be a better name! Pics please

Don't be daft! I love seeing other folks' achievements! Well done for getting your little cook interested in where food comes from. The earlier kids learn, the better.

I'll have a look at that pickle recipe. We have a Big Cook Little Cook cookbook and it is one of my 6 yr old son's favourite books. We've tried a few recipes although I'm sure he is often only there to lick the spoon and scoff the final results! 
He likes making the carrot cakes which have mini marzipan carrots on top although sometimes they have mini parsnips on top as it is easy to find beige and green marzipan here!! This reminds me that we've talked about making carrot cakes with pumpkins on top for Hallowe'en.
The Cbeebies website has loads of other recipes to try and anything that gets the littlies interested in cooking is a good thing imho (despite the weirdy presenters!).

I'm old and sure I remember Valerie and John Noakes cooking - would it have been biscuits or something?

All I remember is making things out of toilet rolls and fairy soap squeezy bottles, and Shep and Petra the dogs.
