Oh dear we don't even have a grandchild to blame naming things on.....

All our wildlife gets names - there's Kevin the coypu and Malcolm the muskrat, the moorhens (don't have any at the moment ) are collectively called 'The Millies' because the first year there was Milly, Molly, Mandy, Mork and Mindy, all the swallowtail caterpillars are called Sammie, and all big house spiders are either Billy or Bobby. All garden birds are Robbie, Bluey, Greenie, Blackie etc.

we give names to our livestock - the first year we went for food names - like Rogan and Josh, but we are harder now - and working through the alphabet - so Arthur, Agnes, and Arnie (lambs) and Amelia and Amanda (pigs) are in the freezer... yum...

someone suggested it on my blog so we went for it - though tbh we mostly called them 'the pigs' or piggies!! if we had food for them...

We name just about everything in the house for the benefit of the granddaughter Leah, mainly!

My grandparents always seemed to name any animal-shaped object in sight when I was young - I just thought they were a bit funny and tried to remember the names to humour them!

Of course all animals (food or otherwise) should be named. Heck, we name all our houseplants, cars, computers etc, etc!

I've often worried about advising someone how to gut their pet! Sorting the pets from the food will avoid such issues, hopefully.
