Home Made Instant Hot Chocolate + many other treats!

Post: # 179670Post matt_w »

I just got back from a neighbours having logged up a tree they had down recently, to find in the kitchen a rather large selection of home made delights. (Thank you Mrs Wastell!)

Home Made Instant Hot Chocolate (has to be tasted to be believed - recipe below)
Chocolate sauce
Lemon Curd
Orange Curd
St Clements Squash
Lemonade
Cheese Straws
Ginger Cookies
Cranberry Sauce
Blackberry Syrup
Diabetic Christmas cake

We are not fans of artificial sweetener (we a diabetic in the family so you'd think we'd be used to it by now) And all those instant hot chocs you find in the shops (to me) always taste a bit bland, of sweetener and not chocolaty enough. Well I was offered a cup of brown liquid and ordered to taste it. It didn't taste 100% exactly like regular milk made hot chocolate but it was blooming lovely, and I managed to commandeer a jar to take to work

Sieve all powered ingredients and mix well in a bowl
2 cups powdered milk (we used skimmed)
1/2 cup cocoa
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 coffee creamer
1/2 cup choc chips
pinch salt

sorry, should have said, all mesures apart from the salt are cups... not a standardised american cup, just a domestic cup, as they are all the same measurement they are relative, so make as much or as little as you like.

I'd go and make myself some now, however there's a glass of sloe gin and tonic awaiting instead!
