Wotcha

Can't say I am self sufficient or ish even, but strive in small ways to be so.

I have a tiny area to garden in. Managed to grow some veggies in containers. About a dozen swede and whole load of cherry toms. Got latter in very late, didn't take much care of them, but managed a large green harvest in October. Ripening away on the freezer.

Am particularly interested in growing vegetables over winter and early spring. Late spring to early summer isn't much of a problem.

Have a number of ideas, some old (manure hot beds) some new (solar collectors, heat from house), but as cheap and as sustainable as possible. Just need the garden to try them out in.

Hi and Welcome,

I was growing cabbage, kale and sprouts over the winter and doing beautifully they were too until a deer broke down the fence last weekend :angryfire: luckily some will grow again. Ah well

Hi and welcome to Ish

I've put some salad stuff, bok choy and other short-growing (that time ti grow not height  )crops in the polytunnel to try out over winter. Odsox suggested peas which I'm also trying but not a single one has germinated. So either that's a bust up here or the mice had themselves a treat!
