I need a knitting pattern for a bobble hat

Post: # 180951Post Millymollymandy »

I've just started knitting again and am completely addicted but I don't know any of the internet sites that you guys use or where to find free patterns.

I have more than 2 balls of wool left from a jumper that I have finished (and yes I am actually sewing it up this time!), it's double knitting and I thought I could do a bobble hat rather than waste the wool.

But I dunno where to look. :dontknow:

Thanks Red that does look the ticket but will it work OK on 5mm needles if the wool I'm using uses 4mm for jumpers? I'm no good at using any wool for patterns other than the stated wool on the pattern.

I was most amazed to find that my tension was correct for this jumper, the only other time I ever checked my tension (about 30 years ago) it was too loose, but it never seemed to be a problem!

Also somehow I've managed to keep all my half finished jumpers and knitting needles all these years and house moves but somewhere along the line I've lost my stitch holders and all the patterns I had.

I'd certainly recommend knitting pattern central - I use it lots. Fabby site!

I've looked through them all but they are rather overwhelming and the photos are either too small, jig about or just not there unless you click on a specific pattern, far too much to go through, well for jumpers anyway! I need to be able to see what something is going to look like properly. But that hat looks good if it works for my wool.

you can check your guage as per the pattern to see if the needles are right or not

I don't really know how to do this and I don't understand how to knit something if you don't have the right wool for the pattern. It's completely doing my head in as I can either find wool that I like but not a pattern or I find a pattern I like (rare these days with all these horrible 'trendy' things!) but the wool that goes with it is naff. :( :( :(
