My Zucchini/cougettes are possessed

Post: # 180167Post homegrown »

I think my zucchinis/cougettes are possessed, the other day I went to check on them and harvested a couple and although very pedentic of me I measured the younger smaller ones all too small to harvest, I know we have been having very hot norwest winds, but really I went back the next day and they were three times the size and looked like a small marrow..,? :dontknow:

Are they normally such fast growers? If so I might start growing them commercially

I grew round ones and I swear they grew like that too.

Here's a photo (that won an Ish competition a few months ago so I'm not bothered about my poem getting no votes this time  ).

You can see the 'ones that got away'.

Er, no, they were target practice for my husband's new hobby - an air rifle!

Most of the rest went into the compost as even the chickens were sick of 'em!

I've decided I prefer 'regular' long green courgettes rather than the round ones, as they are a bit more watery I think.

one that got away?

yep - we always plant our courgettes in the garden beds, rather out in the big veg patch, as they need visiting daily...

Not possessed, just possessed of the ability to mimic the shape of a nuclear submarine overnight.

That a briliant photo Millymollymandy. I can never be bothered by too many corgettes having found a really nice recipie for corgette cake. And you can never eat have too much cake  .

I find the yellow corgettes really tasty too, sweeter than the green varietys and a bit less prolific so a bit easier to handle.

We went away for a couple of days and left a four inch black beauty, came back to a marrow, though not quite as big as Mal's.

Had to tie one to greenhouse rafter as it was block the path, it's now climbing towards the ceiling
