Mastercrafts on BBC

Do you think The Good Life could be remade, with me or Dave playing Tom Good (maybe not!)? If you have seen something on TV or heard something on the radio recently that you want to talk about, tell us here.

We watched it, and quite enjoyed it. It had the usual "will she/won't she" rubbish - I don't understand why they think we need drama in a crafts programme.

But I loved all the tools and the circus-like workshop. What an amazing place to work all day.

Monty didn't look very well though did he? Hopes he's OK - I was really upset when he had to leave Gardener's World.

Watched it on iPlayer, what a great experience, I am officially jealous. Cant wait to show my son, he will be totally into it. Want to try and find him a summer camp to do stuff like that.

What a fantastic place to do a course, tucked away in the woods under that lovely canopy.

Wonder if i can convince my other half to make me one of those rotating foot powered lathes? hmmmmmm

:study: Might have to go and see if I can find some plans on line.

We loved it - thank you for pointing it out!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

here you go - a pdf on the subject - looks easy enough to build ( but then i am a chippy by trade ) - if not a tad fancy for my liking - and i doubt if you will find the same materials easily - but other than that looks sound to me

if you have access to a bench mounted circular saw there IS a way of cutting exact circles - which requires a simple jig - there's a video here that shows how http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxbzrf4z_cg

SAFETY NOTE : if you are NOT practiced / experienced / still HAVE all your fingers and want to keep them -DO NOT try this it may LOOK simple but believe me its not as easy as it looks - this is for EXPERIANCED machine users only !! - and USE ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT IF DOING THIS !!

FINGERS ARE USEFULL - DONT LOOSE YOURS IN A SAW ACCIDENT !! :thumbright:

AND - I DONT approve of using an OPEN blade like that - you can still do this with the riving knife AND blade guard in place :angryfire: - yes a lot of us have done work with an "open" blade and still have our fingers to tell the tale - but ONE SLIP and its casualty time !! + you could fall on to the blade - NOT recommended - but here is a classic example of someone who SHOULD know better .................... power tools ain't TOYS they BITE !!

Thank you for the pdf.

The saw is lethal, as we have heard from local histories, and H&S is a bit hit and miss here in rural France, but ultimately, the saw is safer than a chainsaw and a sawhorse, which had a tendancy to spin the logs and make the chainsaw blade 'jump' up towards your head.
