Has any one tried alkaline water for the plants?

I've read in different places over the Internet that alkaline water is good for the plants and that plants that are feed with alkaline water grows better and give a better tasting to the final product (fruit or veggies).

Ive never done it but it would be an interesting test. Has any one here tried this?
