Great, Thanks Lee, my moustache is getting a bit grey these days, so it sounds like the boot polish is the way to go!

Splendid fellow, Lee. Now that's what I call male grooming - none of this Mach III triple blade nonsense.

Bit disappointed in the Handlebar Club though.

"The qualification for membership is:

A hirsute appendage of the upper lip, with graspable extremities and, in addition, we specify that beards are not allowed."

I couldn't possibly join a club that has such a beardist regulation.

A bit of googling turned up quite a few references to "scary sharp" sharpening. As far as I can see, the gist is that you use sandpapers (starting course but going down to extremely fine) which can give an edge that is keen enough to split hairs!

My sharpening techniques aren't very good - has anyone tried this (or anything else effective) and got tips to share? I gave up on shaving years ago but I'd love to be able to maintain my bladed tools (gardening implements and cooking knives) in a better state.

Oh dear, that's given me a heads-up. It's the sort of thing I'll never know unless you tell me. Profuse apologies.

BTW, I'm a fella (in case there weren't enough clues in this thread). But I did indeed once meet a woman called Stewart. Her middle name, actually, and she was more usually called Sheila. Apparently for a long time in her family the first born were all called Stewart, and she was the first first born since then who wasn't a boy.
