Ow! Ow! Ow!

Post: # 19109Post Millymollymandy »

I fell off a ruddy horse yesterday! The last time I fell off I was a nice young bouncable 26 and fell flat on my back in some nice soft mud. This time I fell on my bum onto sand but boy did it hurt and I couldn't even move for a couple of minutes (I think age has something to do with it! :( as I am now 40 something!). Well I did eventually get back on and jumped a few more times (jumping, am I completely MAD? )

However feeling rather crippled yesterday and today so I went to see the human vet who has dosed me up with painkillers, anti-inflamatories and I'm going to have some X-rays tomorrow - my coccyx is not broken thank god but I may have compressed my vertebrae (sp?).

It's not going to put me off horse riding though! Now if that Nev says I told you so........... I'll set my big husband on him! :naka: Or the even bigger horse!!!

Anyway just need a bit of tea and sympathy - mostly because I can't get on with all those garden chores at the moment!

Oh ouch ouch, not good. I do hope that you aren't too damaged. It's a long way down off a horse. I shall give you a little pat on the head and hand over a virtual cuppa tho.

Horses and me are a big NO NO. I am totally frightened of them. I like cars with brakes and acceloraters that you can control. I did look after 5 horses once, which scared the livin' daylights out of me and I even rode one for a bit as a sort of self therapy. Didn't convince me.

My OM used to be in the Household Calvalry and loves 'osses. (mind you, he'd never even ridden one before he signed up!)

Ouch!
Well you're definitely braver than me. I'm also petrified of horses.
Hope you're back in your garden soon.

Oh you poor thing MMM.

I had a couple of horses as a teenager, rode bareback everywhere, no fear. Now...no bleedin' way would you get me near one! Huge things they are, with big bitey teeth!

Aww, thanks everyone. I did feel a lot better for a while in the afternoon - guess it was the drugs but felt grotty again in the evening. I'm sitting here with a hot water bottle between me and the chair back right now - also 'prescribed' by the doc - it actually feels very nice!

And yes I have a hubby to 'look after' me and he went and did the shopping as I didn't feel quite up to it.

Now I have finally realised why I have always preferred little ponies to great big horses.

Shakes head in sorrow...................M3, M3, M3...................what are we going to do with you?

Sorry to hear that you're hurt mate, and I would not even THINK about saying I TOLD YOU SO or make any comments about 4 legged dog food.

Please accept my best wishes for a speedy recovery and soon enough you will be, if you will pardon the expression, back in the saddle!

Well the good news is after having X-rays I haven't damaged anything. So I guess I will just have to take it easy for a while, only that is sooooo boring, and the weeds are growing alarmingly. :(

Interestingly the X-rays showed a couple of vertebrae higher up which are a bit mis-shapen and the doc asked if I'd had any falls before - er, can't remember, probably loads when I was a kid! It probably accounts for the reasons why I get backache a lot especially when gardening! He also told my husband that HE should be doing the digging, not me!!!!!!

Could he put it in writing? Standing at the sink is bad for backs too!, and mucking out chicken sheds..... what a list you could make!

Feel better soon

Ohhh MMM I am so sorry! I LOVE horses, would love to own a couple, but don't have the time/money/energy!...

I am glad you've not done any serious damage - as you say as you get older things take longer to get over. Please take it easy... though I am sure some gentle hoeing to keep those weeds in check would be good exercise as long as you keep an eye on your posture....
Tigz x
