ok i have cleared the allotment and now have it planted out with veg in the winter it was dug over and forked over to get roots out obviously you cant get every bit out i have the odd bit of bind weed coming up where possible i lift it out of the ground but when there is a bit where me seeds growing i just snap off the top so not to disturb me seeds growing.obviously once i have lifted the crop i can fork it through is there anything elses i can do?????

You could cover the spaces between rows with the good old multi-purpose carpet to keep the weeds down... Not too close to the seedlings, so there'll still be some coming up, but it saves a bit on weeding time. Or you could "mulch" with newspaper, too. Both types of cover will also give a comfy home to slugs, so you'd have to lift them occasionally to remove those beasties!

I think bindweed will sneak its way out from under either of those! This is pretty much the problem I have Gunners. Last year there was tons of bindweed and I just had to hoe it off or remove carefully from amongst my seedlings/crops.
Having now dug my patch a 2nd time I got to remove quite a lot more root so hopefully there will be less this year (so far so good).
Other than use weedkiller, I don't think there is anything you can do. You'll just have to have fun digging it out later on. Go on, you know you are looking forward to more DIGGING!
