Looking for mushroom gatherers for my Masters research!

Post: # 196284Post Anna_Kent »

Hello!

I am not sure if this is the right category where to post my message, but there was a previous post about mushrooms, so I thought, why not here... :flower:

My name is Anne, I am studying at the Uni. of Kent in Canterbury and I am doing research for my final project in a MSc of Ethnobotany programme.
My topic is "Knowledge about fungi in the UK", and in general it will contribute to assess environmental knowledge in industrialized countries. :study:

I am looking for mushroom gatherers of all levels and abilities to fill in a questionnaire I have designed, including questions about what you usually gather, how you learnt about fungi, etc...

Anyone can participate if you have:
1) British nationality
2) 18 years old minimum
3) have been picking any kind of mushrooms at least once in your life!

It would be great if you want to participate! In that case, just send me a quick message at mushrooms.study@googlemail.com saying that you are interested, and I will send you the questionnaire via email!

All the best,

Anne

Hello again

My research is still on! I'm looking for people who like to pick mushrooms, whether it is a very rare activity or a daily one!

Some members of the forum have already completed the questionnaire, thank you to them
Some have received the questionnaire but not completed it yet: they still have 2 weeks :sunny:
And I'm sure other members would like to participate but haven't seen this message! :salute:

Let me precise that anthropological studies very rarely focus on fungi, so this is your chance to tell what you know to (social) Science!

Have a great week, fellow foragers!

I've not gathered mushrooms before although I once did borrow a book from the library !! I decided not to because knowing my luck I'd poison the family. I know it's not much help but my son has just finished his first degree in sycology ( go on spell iy for the dislexic) and over the three years of tests he gave me to do I always turned out to be his anommaly !!

Rather proud of that I am !!

Big Al

Edited to add, Go on Send me the questionaire and I'll go look for some fungi over the weekend.

Good research! Does it have to be gathering for cullinary purposes or can it be for more scientific purposes?

It can be for scientific purposes as well, as long as you have eaten some at least once, even if food is not your main "relationship" to fungi. :santa:

Don't hesisate to send me a short message to : mushrooms.study@gmail.com (or @googlemail.com, it's the same)!
It's an address created for this research only and I won't give your contact details to anyone else.
