Most hated vegetable Poll

Post: # 201780Post homegrown »

And the other side of the coin, and yes Mandy we know which one tops your list

And Tragically I cannot vote for any as I love all vege, well atleast I haven't found one I hate yet
Our remote ancestors said to their mother Earth, "We are yours."
Modern humanity has said to Nature, "You are mine."
The Green Man has returned as the living face of the whole earth so that through his mouth we may say to the universe, "We are one."

I voted beans although I only hate broad beans. I am not a big fan of other beans either but I can eat them. Everything else I love.

Can't vote for any of those as I like 'em all. However, if you'd carried on the slight error in the list (a tomato being a fruit, not a vegetable) and included avocado, I would have given it a big YECCCHHHHH!

(Hmmm - mushrooms aren't veggies either. Or courgettes. Or pumpkins. Wish I hadn't said anything now  ).

I don't know which to vote for, sprouts or turnips. I think I'd rather eat a sprout to be honest. So off I go to vote for turnips. :thumbright:

And no I'm not voting for peas as I like the little ones, it's the big ones like frozen ones that I HATE  and I don't hate broad beans any more, quite the opposite now I've discovered a wonderful tasting bean inside the horrid tasting skin.

Maybe if you did this poll in two month's time everyone would be voting for courgettes?

(I was thinking about doing a favourite fruit poll but hadn't realised this new version of the board let you list so many things, I thought it was about 8 total!)

By the way there are lots of people in the world* who hate brocolli but it isn't on the list. I haven't heard anyone on Ish complaining about it though so I think you'll be OK there.

I like all of them, I thought about ticking sprouts.... but having tasted a properly cooked one (rather than my mothers disgusting 'boiled for 3 hours' sludge) they are actually quit nice.... I might even grow some one day...

I can't say I like them all as there are some, like chard and swede, that I don't grow any more. But I would eat them if dished up when dining out and probably quite enjoy them as "a change".
Plus here's a weird one ... I absolutely love young finger carrots but dislike old carrots. I'll eat old carrots in a winter stew/casserole, but never as a side vegetable, so how would I vote for that on the list ?
And another thing ... I dislike (not hate) swede but like turnips and as the two are lumped together how on earth can I vote. :dontknow:

Disclaimer: I almost certainly haven't a clue what I'm talking about.

I love swede and have always disliked turnips - but I accepted half a dozen of someone's spare turnips, ate one (and its foliage) last night and now I'm a convert.
I don't like strawberries - if anyone wants to start a poll on fruit...

My hatred of sprouts is also based solely on childhood memories. I really must try them again. I was only saying so to a friend about a year ago, and she was going to drop some off for me to try. She never did though, so either she forgot, or they were so delicious she ate them all

Try stir-fried sprouts (sliced or chopped) with peppers and onion and a sprinkling of pine nuts. Delicious

Now if you'd asked for the most hated flower I'd have voted for green euphorbia! That really freaks me out!

OMG I LOVE Euphorbias and have all sorts growing here - one of my favourite plants of all time. And mostly evergreen too and even more important - they survive in my drought stricken garden! :thumbright:
