TURNIPS ?
I want to grow turnips but the potatoes are still in the plot. Can I leave them and then plant turnips when they've all been lifted or will that be too late ? I live high and exposed.

Re: TURNIPS ?
Well I've been growing mine in modules and will plant them out within the next few weeks but in the polytunnel and I'm in London. Somehow I don't think they would stand much of a chance in the highlands of Scotland. Just thought are you talking turnips or swedes? Planted from modules my swedes (the purple and yellow things not the smaller white and green things) outside about 3 weeks ago, but I'm worried whether they will grow into anything, they are taking a while to get going.

Re: TURNIPS ?
I never know the difference, to me they're all turnips
And I'll eat either if they will just grow for me !
Re: TURNIPS ?
The first 2 weeks of august is when we put our last turnip crop in. We also live high and exposed, getting constantly hammered by gale force winds... but it never seems to effect the turnips. Oue swedes this year have also seemed to take a little while to get started but they are well on their way now. Can't wait to tuck in!
