I've been stumbling a LOT onto this forum whilst searching for many an hour on the tinternet for many an idea regarding being self-sufficient. Originally Im from Manchester suberbs, and the closest I got to fresh was my bi-annually trip to Wales and the occasional pea plant that fought to survive. I met my partner and moved in..... to the tinyest village around, all thats here is a few houses and a corner shop open for a few hours a day. It was a great oppertunity, our garden is 1.5x bigger then a standard allotment growing space, with a lawn for the dogs at the efront and a people place at the bottom. This summer we decided to cut our houshold expenditure by 2/3rds for may '11 -> may '12.
Long story short, the only things money will be spent on, is basic toiletries, basic foodstufs (flour, eggs- as council wont allow us chickens
) and necessary bills (electric and internet- we don't have gas, thats too modern! lol). The rest has to be grown, foraged, made, ourselves, and if we can't make it- we don't have it!Hopefully with he help of the -ish community you can help us achieve our goal!
