hi guys, Im trying to make a 12" birthday cake but all the recipies Ive tries have been for an 8" or when ive tried it, it comes out flat!!!
does anyone have a good recipie for a pound cake or madiera sponge with the quantities for a good deep 12"?

1lb each of butter, sugar creamed, gradually beat in 8 eggs, fold in 1lb flour (or replace 4oz of flour with 4oz of cocoa to make a really rich chocolate cake)
Grease your tin and preheat oven to about 160 (cannot remember what that is in gas marks) and bake for somewhere between 40 mins and an hour. If the top of your cake browns before it is cooked through, lay some greaseproof paper over the top of the tin to prevent it burning. As usual, if the cake is skewers clean, bounces back when pressed and looks free of the sides it will be cooked.
