I think this sums it up.....

Post: # 218407Post Green Aura »

On another thread I mentioned my fears about this coalition.

It seems the Telegraph, in full-on gloating mode, agree.

Oh, thanks a lot, GA - now I feel ill. Nice of them to be so forthright about it though:
If a government largely composed of rich men lectures hungry sheep about the price of grass, the audience can rapidly become restless. [...] Above all, however, and especially while Labour is so intellectually confused, the impression that all these far-reaching reforms are the product of a consensus is of inestimable political value.
Anybody fancy a bit of light overthrowing-capitalism-and-the-state?

Well it lost me by the first lot of links..........

Suffice to say I know it is going to hit people hard. My wife is a school librarian and due to wage reorganisation she is going to lose £80 a month from April. We only spend £100 a month on food now so where we are going to find £80 from amazes me.

Looks like a lot more yellow wjoopsie labels for tea or a lot less meals....

I can't face reading the Telegraph in gloat mode, or thinking about politics if I can help it, but if there's any overthrowing of capitalism to be done, count me in :brave:

I'm surprised that anyone is surprised! To be honest,I was much more confused by the previous administration: Much trumpeted min wage...thus ensuring that most 'unskilled ' people worked for poverty wages and were expected to be grateful that things weren't worse, the management of the economy was placed above ALL other considerations, the city was seen to be the engine behind economic growth ( on reflection, strangely ironic),oh and we spent billions on two wars on the other side of the world at the behest of some buffoon who surely had a walk on part in 'The Dukes of Hazzard'.
I do, of course, agree that the present lot are a steaming pile(see upcoming rant re electric cars,),but the die was cast in the previous decade,at least, give or take the odd paper thin marketing exercise, this shower make it pretty obvious who's side they're on(their own).

I certainly don't disagree, although it started much earlier than the last decade. But the previous administration (even though most of them were closet Tories) had some limits.

This shower have jumped straight in manipulating the situation to push through their rabid policies.

I liked this bit too. Friends of ours who stayed at Christmas suggested that Dave & Nick are genuinely confused as to why people are so upset about university fees going up to £9000 per year. As they point out, this is a absolute bargin when compared to the fees paid for a "halfway decent" public school

Dave & Nick may just be a tad out of touch with reality, they opined.

Perhaps the writer was putting a late bit of brown-tounging in the hope of getting something in the New Year's Honours :dontknow:

BTW, the columnist who wrote this piece - Bruce Anderson - is the same oaf who advocates tourturing children to get their parents to talk:
"Let's take your hypothesis a bit further. We have captured a terrorist, but he is a hardened character. We cannot be certain that he will crack in time. We have also captured his wife and children".

After much agonising, I have come to the conclusion that there is only one answer to Sydney's question. Torture the wife and children.

Did someone say "anarchy"? I'm in :cooldude: (and that's without reading the full article. I've woke up bleary-eyed, so will read it later when I can see better) :coffee:

Quote from Smellygraph "I believe that he will succeed, and that he and other Lib Dems will make an indispensable contribution at a crucial juncture, thus helping to implement the second phase of the Thatcherite revolution in government."

We are still suffering the consequnces of the Thatcher era and a second dose may completely kill off the patient.

Ah, I see... He's that kind of twisted, evil, sociopathic moral imbecile - the sort that spends time constructing absurdly complex and implausible scenarios so that he can fantasize about torturing children whilst believing it to be morally justified. No wonder he's all aflutter at the idea of Thatcherism 2 - The Revenge...

Oh dear, it seems that my "first against the wall" list is getting rather long... We're going to need a long wall. ;)
Cheers

Did someone say Anarchy? 'In the UK'?
I'm in. I have not bought a newspaper for months now, and this is mainly the reason. Call me naive, it's the way i like it.
I know this sounds bad but it's Me and Mine first i'm afraid.
