Cracking present.

Post: # 220073Post thesunflowergal »

Hubby and I were given two vouchers for boxes of veggie seedling for Christmas, the boxes come from these people http://www.rocketgardens.co.uk/about-us.asp
Has anyone used them before? Its a novelty for me as I normally grow everything from seed, but it sometimes gets a bit tricky without a greehouse.
So mid- April i have all of these arriving:- Toms x9, Courgettes x8, Mixed Lettuce x70, French Beans x22, Runner Beansx17, Mizuna x20, Rainbow Chard x5, Rocket x40, Peas x32, Stawberries x6, Spinach x10, Carrots x20, Giant Red mustard, Seed Pots15, Onions x20, Frill mustard x10, cabbage x15, Cauliflower x15, Beetroot 10, and sweetcorn x15.
There are a few other bits that I need to add to add to that such as cucumbers and pumpkins. But that should keep me busy for a while, and will certainly be self sufficient in salad over the summer  I just need to try and work out how I am going to fit that all into our back garden now

Sounds brilliant - we bought some brassica seedlings from the Guardian and they looked good healthy plants. And they've survived all the bad weather.

I hope you like lettuce though - 70 all the same size! Better start looking for recipes gal

Ummm yes my heart stopped when I read 8 courgettes  are you sure this was a good present? 22 French beans could possibly be overwhelming too!!! I think you are going to have a bumper harvest and probably quite a few things to share with Zoe. Good luck with it all!

What a fantastic present! You're going to have a busy couple of days getting that lot into the ground though, once it arrives!
Good luck anyway.

wow what a fab present honey x

we were lucky enough that a friend (who is abit obsessed and keeps entering competitions) won a veggrower year box and as she doesn't grow anything gave it to us for this year :D
the ever growing luvpie household currently contains, 4 boys, 4 chickens, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, 4 fish, an empty tropical fish tank waiting new arrivals, now are we daft to look at our broody hen thinking, if we got some fertilised eggs........
