What are we all having for dinner?

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

A huge trout!

A customer, who comes in every year to buy presents after his annual fishing trip, gave it to me. It will feed three of us easily. I didn't know they got that big

I'm going to try potatoes dauphinoise again, this time I've found a recipe where you parboil the spuds in cream first then it only needs 20 mins in the oven. Previous attempts have resulted in half cooked potatoes even after hours in the oven. :( It's one of my fave spud dishes so I will cross my fingers....

Tonight we are on my lovely OH's homemade rolls with smoked, peppered mackerel in a light batter with tartare sauce. Accompanied by OH's onions rings and chunky chips!

Tomorrow is my turn to cook so we are on beef, guinness and onion stew to be served with mustard mash! Lunch will be soup and more of OH's rolls with garlic sausage and relish.

It worked and was oh so yummy but very fattening given it is basically spuds, cream, butter and cheese!!

Bought a big bag of monkey nuts which are starting to soften. Do not like to throw anything away so I have kept back some for planting and used the rest in a crushed peanut, potato, onion and parsley soup. Very thick, tasty and filling

Bacon & Pasta big soup.
Chunks of carrots, onion garlic potato split peas and pearl barley, with small chunks of my home cured bacon all cooked up and then sprinkle in a good handful of coucus pasta ... yummy with homemade soda bread...

I didnt know you could plant bought peanuts? I often get them in the shells but thought they were all roasted so you couldnt plant them????

Pie, chips and baked beans with courgette and tomato chutney and pickled beetroot.

Apart from the pie, mostly our own stuff (spuds, onions, tomatoes, garlic, beetroot, courgettes, herbs) and everything's organic except for the salt.

The pie was a Clive's Creamy Mushroom.
