first episode last night on bbc 2 - whaddya think?

i liked it! 9 couples competeing for a suffolk farm and financial support for the first year.
first challenge was to take a half acre and demonstrate small scale, their business plan.
the couples do not generally have much sense of what they're taking on, but there were some good ideas there, like serviced allotments, and mutton sausages! - very niche and premuim market stuff.

i would have liked to see someone use fleeces and other animal products in their plans, not just the meat from the livestock. but i'm a spinner so i guess that's why!

so, will you be watching?

I won't - we were called for an audition but didn't because of our sick cat - so if it is really good I don't think I could bear having missed out!!!

It sounds like the kind of thing I like to have on, although I will feel sick watching those people do what I could only dream of

I watched it and quite liked it.Would of been nice if they would of had more info on the contestants,they did'nt seem to get much of an introduction?It'll be interesting to see how things progress.I'm also wondering if all the animals stay contained!

took a long time to show lots of pretty views of wheat fields I thought!
would be interested to see the milliner shearing & dying the fleece to make hats....

Just watchd it. enjoyed it, but thoughtit was fairly obvious which couple would be going home!. maybe it´s just the way the put the footage together, but it made me wonder why theu even got picked to go on the show!

I so agree with you Niknik!! I enjoyed it but couldn't understand the sowing of seed into that dustbath of earth; there was no water anywhere to irrigate the crops and how are they going to keep sheep on half an acre? The 'grazing' was atrocious, just a load of thistles. Rather confusing I thought.

I haven't.

Sure if you add up all the hours they work for what they get paid etc then it might well be as little as the minimum wage but that's what a lot of other folk [ if they are lucky ] get.
