Superfood is the label given to a food which is considered especially nutritious or in some way of benefit to our health.
But I would be the first to admit that I have always been put off by such descriptions and the media attention superfoods attract. We have always thought that eating a balanced diet which includes lots of fruit and vegetables and which avoids too much sugar, salt and saturated fat is all we needed.
However, if you investigate these foods we would be silly to ignore the extra nutritional and health benefits they provide , so why not try to grow some yourself.

That's really interesting, thanks Okra. I've emailed the link to my brother (lives near Polis)

Interesting list. Good to see my tomato fetish might acutally be a good thing. I'd add oats, raspberries, carrots and the humble fresh-dug spud to the collection.

Re: Grow your own superfoods
I don't know about anyone else ,but i feel like i already grow my own superfood,I know exactly how it has been grown, what's in the soil,I even personally know the horses that provide lovely manure, and exactly what they've eaten to produce it ! So the supermarkets can keep their superfoods,I'd rather my own lovingly grown goodies !
For us to lose contact with the soil results in real unease and maladjustment...to recapture it affords profound joy and inward comfort. Sam Ogden
