Hi my seedlings have been detroyd in the strong wonds is it too late to direct sow??????

It depends a bit on where you are, but I would say it's definitely worth a chance.
They will germinate quickly and grow away fast at this time of year, and as they only take a couple of months to start fruiting, you will get courgettes from August onwards.

You still have a little time, as Odsox says, but I wouldn't direct sow. Sow in good compost and transplant when they have a couple of leaves. That gives them the best of starts more quickly, and they won't know they've been transplanted.

Why not buy some young plants from a garden shop? They shouldn't be too expensive and you'll have courgettes much earlier than if you sow seed now.

Hi,my courgettes sat and sulked as the weather turned cold and windy as soon as i'd planted them out. They still don't look too happy so i've started off a couple more plants as back-up.They grow so quickly if you start them off indoors I'm sure you'll have courgettes in no time. Where do you live ?

Hi I,m in the north east Durham (Consett) have you popped in a few of the seeds I had left over and will cross my fingers have a few left over so will pot them up as a back up........
