G'Day from Australia

Post: # 236125Post bwendo »

Hi, it's great to be here and share all your knowledge and tips.

We live in Merewether, (a beachside suburb a couple of hours north of Sydney) on a 820m2 block backing onto a bush reserve which was overgrown with a tangle of weeds. Over the last four years we have started regenerating the native forest and have adopted some permaculture principles to make our land more productive and resource rich.

At the moment we have 8 chickens and they are great producers and entertainers.

It is amazing how our efforts have impacted on the neighbourhood - the retired bloke a few doors down comes and feeds the chooks every week, the children next door have names for them, and everyone else is interested to hear if there are any spare eggs (there is).

Moving towards self sufficiency has been rewarding on so many levels and I look forward to graduating from a Penelope Keith to a Felicity Kendal soon.
Cheers

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
