Hello

Post: # 237307Post Silas (son of Silas) »

I thought I'd finally say hello. I just got around to signing up, but have been lurking for a while.

I'm currently not even remotely 'ish' having most of my time taken up rebuilding the wreck of a house I bought 9 months ago and trying to hold down a 40 hour week to pay for rebuilding it. When I bought it there was no running water, no floors (thanks to the burst pipes EVERYWHERE that destroyed the floors right through the house, no kitchen, no heating, all the windows where rotten through, it needed a total re-wire, all the plaster was blown, ceilings all hanging down... blah blah the list goes on.

My plan is to complete the rebuild within 2 years with a view to everything I do aiming to be as 'ish' as possible at the end of it.

I have been 'ish' to varying extents in my life, but never as much as I would have liked. I lived on a boat for over 10 years, shooting rabbits on the local farm, home brewing, dabbled in growing various things, (but my wife is clearly has a greener thumb than I do). I turned Vegetarian 4 or 5 years ago (local rabbit population would say not a moment too soon).

I moved into bricks and mortar 7 years ago to a tiny 3 bed semi in hell. No room to swing a cat. This place came on the market and I thought "This is too good to miss" Now I have space to grow, I am in a breathtaking part of the countryside and I can finally begin to realise my dream of living how I want to, where I want to. Admittedly I have a lot of work to do just to reach normality, but after every long day I can look out of my window and see a little slice of heaven.

That would be just outside Stratford upon Avon, Warwickshire, England.

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
