Garlic soup

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Garlic soup

Post: # 238227Post pumpy »

My Jackie found a recipe for this, but it seemed a bit watery....... just seemed to consist of 2 bulbs, dried & fresh thyme, & bayleaves. Any alternatives? We do like our garlic!
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Does the allicin (the good part) deteriorate as you're biting into it... so not as effective? these capsules are stabilised allicin. ???

Allicin is released only by crushing or chewing raw garlic and cannot be formed from cooked garlic.

The same site also informs us that allicin cannot be formed in the body by the ingestion of any form of garlic - so I'd stick to your stabilised allicin if I were you.
