Happy Solstice to you all

Post: # 24028Post Hillbilly »

Sunrise at local stone circle early this morning.

As the sun spirals its longest dance,
Cleanse us
As nature shows bounty and fertility
Bless us
Let all things live with loving intent
And to fulfill their truest destiny

Have a great day.

I'm very jealous, I'm stuck in the city and would love to see the sun rise over the countryside, its been far too long!

And back at you Jo and everyone else....

Sunny cous cous salad for lunch with sunburst tomatoes too :sunny:

Didn't watch the sunrise - for a change I was asleep, but it's a highly charged day that's for sure.

Got some White Wych summer ale for later on and a sunny cake to bake this afternoon.

Have a great day everyone!!

Clarabel - arrange to get somewhere next year? Theres a few good festivals near you at that time - PM me if you want details.

Shorley  - yes I am bedecked in solstice garb today (was gonna go skyclad but a) its a village b) my kids would be permanantly traumatised and c) its a bit chilly still) - am decorating the house later on this afternoon and planning a nice meal for us all tonight. James is also 'helping' by being sick everywhere (expressionist baby solstice art)......in the meantime - back to weeding roflmao

I didn't watch the sunrise this morning but I will probably spend some time bird watching (from my front window) some time this afternoon.

Not too much rain today - but no blue sky, either!

Quite a busy day yesterday, so no sunrise. Also it is blowing a gale here and was raining off and on, so the poor old oak king has been well and truly vanquished!

Went morris dancing at night, though, andon my way to the village, saw a hare! The first one I have seen close up! I was amazed that the goddess should show herself to a clanky old volvo (driver) but she did and I was thrilled. Little Arthur was in the back so I was able to point it out.

Then I saw a heron in flight!

Then there was a sign in the village "Beware of red squirrels" (!)

nature was throwing itself at me suddenly, so even though I was knackered, I was suddenly thrilled, and the dancing, although inside the village pub, was good fun.

Hurrah!

Happy solstice

I didn't even notice it was the longest day yesterday - BUT - we had a little bit of rain (3mm) and I think we collected about 400 litres of water altogether. That's worth celebrating!

Driving home with a friend last night she asked the time & was astounded it was as late as it was (10pm) because "I thought the nights should be pulling in now"!

She's not even blonde anymore!

NB: Not a slur on blondes, but this used to be her excuse when she came out with anything particularly dizzy.
