Hi Alice. We keep 2 goats at the moment. We were given a 2 yr old goatling, but as they are herd creatures a single goat will often form a far too strong attachment to its keepers, it'll see you as its herd member!! We bought another several weeks later as she had kidded and we wanted to have a milking goat. They are great animals and I think the goatling is my favourite of all the animals we have. However, she is bossy and badly behaved on occasion, but in a quite endearing way. I think if you are going to tether the goat in an orchard you may need some protection for any fruit trees, goats will strip the bark, also, i have heard that wilted fruit tree leaves are poisonous to goats (not sure if its true or not).
