I have lots of green tomatoes on the plants but with the temperature dropping I don't think they will become red anymore.
Does anyone have recipes for geen tomatoes?

unripe green tomatoes
Re: unripe green tomatoes
Try bringing them in and leaving on a sunny windowsill with an over-ripe banana. They ripen quite well that way,

The obvious thing is green tomato chutney - there's loads of recipes out there, just have a Google.Lisette wrote:I have lots of green tomatoes on the plants but with the temperature dropping I don't think they will become red anymore.

Put a ripe banana in the green house with them. They will ripen quicker
Re: unripe green tomatoes
There was a film called "fried green tomatoes (at the whistlestop cafe)" or similar, and that came with a recipe AIRI...

Strangely less blight this year despite the coolth and sog.... possibly coz I pruned back the foliage more?

Re: unripe green tomatoes
Unripe tomatoes will actually ripen anywhere, they don't really need a sunny window, although if that's the most convenient place to put them, go for it. I just spread mine out on newspapers on the table. The ones that don't ripen within about a week, I make green tomato mincemeat out of, but I have friends who just let theirs sit and ripen all winter.
