Oh GodI'm 30
I am stuck between celebrating that I have got to this age, and consoling myself because I have nothing much to show for it!
No assets at all to speak of, not married, no children, no real career to speak of. Haven't invented a cure for cancer, written a bestselling novel or travelled the world.
That said, I am not as shellshocked as I thought. I am actually the happiest and most content I have ever been - my 20's were riddled with insecurities and bad decisions - or rather, no confidence in my decisions - I had quite a lot of fun, but I don't think I am too sorry to see them go.
It got me thinking about advice...I wish I could have gone forward to the future and written a letter of advice to my 20 year old self. I would say:
1. Don't worry so much...it really isn't important and you won't even remember by the time you are 30.
2. Have as much fun as possible and dare to do the unthinkable.
3. Don;'t ever diet - just cut back on food and run three times a week
4. Don't force yourself to make decisions you are not ready for - just enjoy living until you have a burning urge to follow one path or another because it will come one day'
5. He's an idiot - so get the hell out!
What advice would you give your 20 year old self if you could? Or more to the point, your 30 year old self!

No advice, just be "YOU" because, whatever advice you give yourself, tomorrow you will ignore it, when something, or someone, crosses your path, just live your life your way,and take the, knocks, laughs, fun, pain and sorrows, cos at the end of the road you can look back say," That was a hell of ride" the "Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" but it was all "ME"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!
And that all sounds like excellent advice to me, I may follow it myself although possibly modifying number 5 a tiny bit ;-).

Happy Birthday Bonnie.
You have some sensible suggestions there. From someone who is now the wrong side of fifty, I'm struggling to remember my twenties or thirties. I know that I had a lot of fun though. Here are a few of my suggestions:
The only belief worth having is in oneself.
Integrity is everything.
Only dead fish follow the flow. Be an individual.
Change the things you can and accept the things you can't.
Time is the only commodity worth a damn, use it wisely.
Regret nothing, its all part of the learning process.

Has anyone seen the plot, I seem to have lost mine?

Re: Oh GodI'm 30
Hi and Happy Birthday!I would'nt give myself any advice because I have no regrets!
Age is only numbers.I was on the phone the other day to someone who does'nt know me.She had to ask my D.O.B.When I told her,she said "Ohhhh! You don't sound like you're 50!(I am)When I got off the phone,I smiled to myself and wondered what 50 yr olds are supposed to sound like???
Enjoy your life and don't worry about numbers!xxx

Happy Birthday! I had a bit of a freak out when I turned 30
was most glad to turn 31 and then bizarrely it all seemed much better. Am also happier than I have ever been so know what you mean

Sing like nobody's listening, live like there's no tomorrow, dance like nobody's watching and love like you've never been hurt.

Happy Birthday. Dont regret all the things you did or didnt do in your 20s - they have all gone to make you who you are today and that cant be bad.

Yes what all the above said( Iam much older and wiser than you having been 30 for nearly a year now)Don't forget you ditched a career that was making you unhappy and are following your dreams that is very brave and exciting in the scheme of things and I applaud it loudly (not that you need my approavl to live your life!)
