Maggots in my air dryed ham
I've got 2 'parma' style hams hanging in a draughty location outside, on inspection, i found one had maggots. I've cleaned them off, re-salted a bit and re-wrapped in an extra layer of muslin.

Does the ham otherwise look and smell OK? Unsavoury as it might have first appeared, this might not necessarily be the end of your ham. I'd be tempted to continue and inspect every couple of days for any further signs of vermin or decay.

It smells fine....it'd take more than maggots to put me off, i'm just a bit annoyed with it as i've followed instructions to the letter. Have re-hung it, going to keep a watchful eye on it and the other ham.

Good luck with it. Temperatures here are still a little high to start curing meat outside, but I'm hoping to have something going next week.
