Have you made something and want to show it off? This is the place for your photos or just talk about the things that you have made or would like to make. All crafts from knitting and crochet to woodwork, in fact anything that you have made!
I've done a bit of whittling and wood turning in my time and last summer I decided to buy myself a micro lathe, which can be taken to festivals and powered by a leisure battery and solar panel setup. I'm also a keen crocheter and so I decided to make myself some more hooks and I thought some of you might like to see them.

Totally stunning, I'd have to find somewhere special to put them so they could be viewed all the time!

Absolutely beautiful! My OH made some rug hooks and prodders - I think I'll show him these.........
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Just because you see two eyes shining in the jungle at night, do not think that the worse thing that could happen is that you are about to be attacked by a tiger. It could be two one-eyed tigers.
Thanks for the lovely comments. I do intend to do more and sell them, along with my other creations. Sadly the windy weather at the end of last year almost took the roof of my workshop (shed), the roofing felt disappeared into the distance and then the rain got in and so the electricity had to be disconnected and work had to stop. Will all be fixed when the weather improves and I can get to work again. I'm a bit annoyed because a lot of my yarn friends wanted hooks for Christmas and I could have made some much needed cash but that's life I suppose. Roll on spring and then we can all play outside again :)

When you go into production will you be making knitting needles too? I'd be really interested in those.

Not sure if the working distance would be long enough for knitting needles but they could be done on the big lathe. Think I need a mini lathe now (any excuse) as the big lathe is a pain to use and I've a few things I want to make that are just a bit too big for the micro.

Those are amazing. Also I read your blog and what a great thing to do, going round festivals teaching people how to knit/ crochet, I bet that's really popular.
Yes we have a great time with the workshops, sadly we'll never make any money from it but we get so much satisfaction from what we do that we know it's worth it. There's nothing like the delight on someone's face who think they can't do it and then suddenly it all clicks into place and off they go. Knitting and crochet are brilliant skills to have and, like many others, face dying out if nobody passes them on. We gets lots of people telling us their happy memories of Granny knitting by the fire when they were young, and we feel it's our duty to teach them, so their grandchildren can the same fond memories too and it's such a wonderful feeling to make something yourself, rather than buying something made in a factory that a couple of thousand other people will be buying and wearing too.

Definitely! Whenever I get my knitting/ crocheting out in public (I'm not much of a teacher though so I just let people look/ touch and tell them what I'm doing) I always get a really positive response, and you're right, so many people tell me how their granny used to do it, and what she used to make. I never used to be much of a knitting activist, I normally just do it in front of the telly, but I had a woman flat-out insult me for knitting the other day and so I'm starting to think I might get out there and make it more visible!
Anyway keep up the good work and I shall definitely buy one of your hooks when you have them for sale.
