I am thinking about putting in 3 or 4 new beds for soft fruit and herbs, and flowers that would be beneficial for the veg garden. The beds would be about 2meters long and 1mt wide. It would be between the fruit trees, and out-side the near rabbit proof wire fence .

I am trying to decide whether mix all the plants together or to separate them to Flowers/ Herb beds and whether there is is any flower/ Herb, that would act as rabbit deterrent, or KILLER Any thoughts or suggestions, at least those that painless and possible,would be greatly welcomed.

I can't say whether it's true or not as we don't have rabbits here. It grows well in my heavy clay and is hardy here but it does suffer from lily beetle later in the year. All the leaves are stripped by the end of the summer.

I sympathise with the rabbit problem. I used to consider myself an ardent supporter of animal rights until I moved to Watership Down. The only fruit/veg that I have in my garden that has not become rabbit food is an autumn fruiting raspberry. Autumn Bliss I think it was called. I will watch this thread with interest. Good luck.

I don't know anything about what rabbits do or don't eat, but as regards the beds. I'd keep the plants which like the same growing conditions grouped together. For example, herbs which like free draining soil and can cope with high heat and a fair amount of drought in one bed, then others which need more moisture retaining soil and/or need more fertilising/compost in another. The soft fruit will really appreciate a good rich soil, raspberries need loads of moisture, yet herbs like oregano/lavendar/thyme won't appreciate the same conditions.

you could probably grow quite a crop of ferrets in that space on the rabbits then you might be able to try other things . . . ill get me coat
