I didn't know where to put this,...but I had to tell someone (O.K. a bunch of someones).

This evening during chores, I was facing finishing the laundry, cooking supper, cleaning the kitchen, etc...and realized that once again the strawberries had to be picked. If we don't keep them picked off, they begin to ferment right there in the patch, and we get invaded by red wasps. Let me tell you, there is no meaner drunk in nature than a drunken red wasp!

So anyway, I grabbed a large bowl and headed out to pick. Keep in mind I have personally picked over 150 pounds of strawberries this year, and my back is plenty tired of it. So I was feeling rather sorry-ish for myself, bent over these plants once again, grumble grumble, grumble...and all of a sudden my dear daughters sweet soprano voice flew out over the garden in a hymn of praise. She was singing away, feeding her rabbits very happily. The air was sweet, the evening was cool, and most of the days work really was done anyways,....

I am Blessed.

It's moments like these that make me so glad and, as you say, feel so blessed that we've chosen to live the way we do. Who needs the top of the range surround sound system when we have bird song and the sweet voices of our children? Who needs fancy restaurant food, and expensive supermarket treats when we have artisan bread, hand made preserves, fresh free range eggs (still warm from the chicken) home cooked meals that those in the rat race would pay a fortune to have - because we have taken the time and learned the skills to make them ourselves.
Maybe if more people could be wise enough to appreciate the simpler things there would be a lot less misery and poverty
