Take them off gently, they're not doing any good.

what does your courgette pant look like?

I bought a marrow plant and a courgette plant from a local organic farmer, but i didn't get any labels telling me which one is which...

they look like marrow or pumpkin plants although more bushy than trailing
aren't courgettes really young marrows
i have a couple in grow bags and some in containers and i was wondering is it ok to transplant established plants as i think they need more space?

You'd have to be very careful as they hate being moved. The ones in growbags could just have the bottom slit and then put on top of moist soil (or another growbag) - the roots will soon find the gaps. The dead leaves should come off in case they mildew - which can spread quickly on some cultivars.

They are really, but I think different varieties may be selected to be better at different stages of growth. In my limited experience, if you let a courgette grow on to be a marrow, you get something that is slightly woody.

Unless you fall over it on your way to collect your healthy lunch. That's irony, not woody. Sorry.

I've got powdery mildew on some of my courgette leaves. Should I wash them, remove them or leave em alone?

The courgettes are about 3 inches long, so are just coming nicely & I don't want to risk losing them.

Leave them alone, they'll be fine.
