Re: What are you havesting
Fresh fruit Salad, with home grown Strawberries and Raspberries ( MMM I didn't cut back my autumn raspberries as I moved them, and they have fruited before the Summer ones!)
The most beautifully scented Roses, I adore them.
Blackcurrants within a week I reckon.
Rhubarb.
All the salad leaves & herbs are doing really well too.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

In all that high wind there was a massive June drop on the apples and now I cant see any on the trees at all ho hum, and all my currants have made lovely leaves but no currants, on the upside it looks like I will need more demi johns for the plum wine

Last of the early beets and very last lettuce, dug the potatoes last night, and will be doing sweet corn next week.
What if you're wrong? What if there's more? What if there's hope you never dreamed of hoping for?

Re: What are you havesting
So far this week I've managed some loganberries, a few blueberries, a couple of rather pathetic little onions, some almost ripe blackcurrants, a strawberry or two and lots and lots and lots of rain!
I also had a June drop from the cooking apple tree, 2 tiny little apples, I reckon that's about half the crop gone.

Re: What are you havesting
Far too much mange tout, gazillions of blackcurrants - thought last year's bumper crop of 7.7kg was a lot but I've already harvested over 6kg and that' s just the first pass! Could easily be 10kg this year - they must be loving the damp weather.
Can't believe my lettuce is bolting when it's only just hearted up, way too many all at once as usual.
New potatoes, peas, broad beans, last of the first lot of strawbs, tons of raspberries, redcurrants, blueberries, garlic, spring onions. Leeks already ready to be transplanted but will have to wait until the onions are ready to be lifted as they go in that space.
Boboff - saw your comment re. raspberries. I've left a few autumn canes to fruit again this year which they are, but really I have so many summer ones I don't need them as well!

Four bushels of sweet corn, (canned and froze), the very last of the peaches, and now cucumbers---let the pickling begin!

Re: What are you havesting
Harvested my shallots yesterday and they are now drying off and I shall do the same with the garlic next week.
All the usual salad stuff, the pea trial has finished, tomatoes are in full swing, runner beans started last week and we have just eaten 6 cauliflowers (good job we had guests for the last 2 weeks)
In the fruit department the strawberries and loganberries continue, the apricots are just starting to be ready, I have a tray full in the dehydrator at the moment and the Victoria plums are just showing signs of colouring.

Re: What are you havesting
At the moment, I am mostly harvesting rain. And snails... Did lift the first of the new potatoes and the garlic at the weekend, but everything else is really struggling. It's so dark, it's like winter all over again!
Cheers

Re: What are you havesting
potatoes, courgettes, lettus, onions, garlic, leeks, peppers, beans, cucumbers, cherries, strawberries, sour cherries, unripe green plums for jam, and the tomatoes are just starting to ripen now.
I'v been making jam from cherries, then cherries and sour cherries, then cherries, sour cherries and plums. All very tasty jams
We've sold most of the cherries and sour cherries now, made a few hundred euros off them so far, but there mostly done now so any more we get im just taking for us and making into jam.
we've also had a glut of massive courgattes ( do they become marrows when they're big like that? ). I'v grated a whole load, baged them up in portions and stuck them in the freezer. I also sliced and fried without oil on a griddle pan so they get that nice charred effect, and baged them up in portions and put in the freezer.
The strawberries havent been very productive, just enough for picking and eating, not enough for jam or freezing which is dissappointing. I was looking forward to strawberry jam
and we had strawberries planted under plastic mulch which were rubbish, but we also have wild strawberries growing in the orchard in the shade, just left without watering or any care from us, and they were much better, really sweet and juicy. But still not enough for preserving.

Re: What are you havesting
All the damp has turned my beds into a seething mass of rampant slugs. . . Although the tomato plants have flowers on them now, so if the sun comes out, I might do okay on toms. My surviving chilli plants are getting big, and the perpetual spinach is going jack & the beanstalk stylee. . .
