Peaches
Re: Peaches
Graham,I'm not expecting too much praise for this, but from bitter experience the only things that work are small terriers or better still a top of the range,.22 ar rifle. They eat well, and the skins are easy to cure.

Re: Peaches
Well I don't know if this is legal where you are,...but I am a crack shot with my .22 pellet gun!
Edit: I see O.J. already covered this! I don't expect any praise for it either by the way---but we once had the unfortunate experience of having squirrels plow through our peach crop and then started working their way through our tomatoes,...and then my Sweetie bought me the pellet rifle...

What if you're wrong? What if there's more? What if there's hope you never dreamed of hoping for?

Air rifle it may have to be. Even my OH who is vegetarian is ready to slaughter them.

Re: Peaches
That's early! Our peaches are not ripe until 1st week of September normally.

Re: Peaches
Everything came early this year here. We had no winter,...just skipped it entirely. So the fruit came early, the gardens were put in early, and now the drought/miserable heat is early.
My neighbors directly to the north are, even as we speak, loading their entire herd of cattle into trailers to take them to auction this morning. There isn't any grass for them, and there wont be any hay this winter. If we have a winter, that is.
Ordinarily we'd be getting peaches in August, apples in October.

That's bad.
I know it's hot in parts of the States because I hear people talking about it on G+. What state are you in?

Kind of fitting, since last year we didn't really have a summer.
I've noticed the seasons tend to pair up like that. A mild winter follows a mild summer, a severe winter follows a severe summer. Which means we're most likely in for a brutal winter this time.

Re: Peaches
From what I've read, I think you are too. I hope we get some winter this year, because as it stands, one more bad season and we're probably going to lose our well.

Re: Peaches
Is most of North America affected? I talk to a friend near Montreal on a social network and she says this year is one of their driest ever with lots of heatwaves which is unusual for them.
And we are having a wet cool summer here in NW France and in the UK!

Yes, most of it is...some areas are much worse than others. Check out this site: http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/. Sorry, I still don't know how to do a link so you'll have to copy/paste it.Millymollymandy wrote:Is most of North America affected? Last night a little cloud came from seemingly nowhere, and it rained hard,...for two minutes.

Edit: Wow---I guess even "I" can do a link!
