Any other re-enactors on here?
Hi,
It occurs to me that there are several re-enactors I know of on this forum,
but are there any more of you out there?
I am a member of the Medival Siege Society and the Michelham Bowmen, my daughters and I shoot english longbow, and are just starting to get into living history, might evan buy a medieval tent over the winter for next season!

Hey Becks.
You already know Super.niki and I are re-enactors. Also with the MSS. We're now St Brigid's Reivers
Nik is doing all the events. For obvious reasons, I can only do the summer ones.

Most Definitely. Hopefully we'll actually meet each other this time, and not pass in the night!
I thought you were one of the people dancing in the beer tent, but didn't want to look like an idiot going up to 'you' and going 'Oi...are you Becks?' Just in case...

Re: Any other re-enactors on here?
You know I am too but as most of our group are based up north we've never made it to Hertsmonceux.
Becks we went down the living history route several years ago although some do still take part in the battles and to be honest we would give the hobby up rather than go back. I understand it's not everyones cup of tea but to me it is very much like the ethos of self sufficenty on here with the making , mending and the absence of modern gizmos. A decent canvas tent is great too, apart from dragging it home when it's sodden but they just feel "better" somehow than plastic.I've got a small hand sown (but not hand woven
)awning I work and sleep in.
Living history also brings out all those wonderful questions from the mops too
"is that a real fire?"
"where do you stay at night?" (whilist standing in front of a tent )
"are you actually going to eat that?"
"are you really from the fifteenth century?"
and loads more too
enjoy yourself it's great fun
Pete

Re: Any other re-enactors on here?
Fee thank goodness you didnt I wasn't dancing (on or off tables !) this time, maybe next year!
There are other MSS events locally through the year I'll have to meet up with Nikki then.
Still need to join a household though.
Its a shame you cant get down to Herstmonceux Pete it really is a great event....maybe next year
Any how its all opening up a whole new world and good fun inspite of the rain this year so we'll keep going and see where we get to,
See you all around

Re: Any other re-enactors on here?
That makes me glad I showed restraint then!
We got back to the beer tent about 10:30 after going to Eastbourne for a gig. Some of our friends had already had a few, so they were gently persuaded back into the beer tent for a few more!
I was going by your FB pic...but it's so difficult to tell who's who when they're either in costume, or in civvies!
