Duke of Edinburgh bronze award
I had a wonderful morning at the allotment with my helper yesterday , a 14 year old young man who now towers over me. He asked me if helping at my allotment could be his voluntary section of this award. It's lovely to be able give something back to a wonderful young man who is so keen on nature ,wildlife and growing things. He went home beaming with a armful of rhubarb , to make a crumble for his nan and some asparagus for his mum. I just wanted to tell everyone about my Sunday morning helper hope this is the right place.

i did the DofE when I was his age
The teacher who ran it described me as a drag anchor, which i though a little harsh. Put me off doing the silver award
I realy enjoyed the expedition

What a pleasant story, didn't realise they still did the DoE. When i was 15(ish) I got a scholarship trip on the STS Winston Churchill, cruising round the Atlantic for a week or two, running up rigging, getting drunk in Cork, etc.My end report, compiled by some retired Army type described me as..'Good at Sea,but with a total disregard for any authority.....'
