Well pump misbehaving can anyone help with info

Have a problem with our well pump. We lost water on Sunday, went down to the pumphouse to find the pump steaming and full of boiling water. Initially it had a fracture in the pipe from the well which was fixed. The pressure switch did not cut back in again when the pressure dropped so we changed the pressure switch and it is still doing the same thing, while the pump is running we get water to the house, when the pump pressure drops the water to the house slows and then stops but the switch still doesn't restart the pump. Pump is definitely not dry because when the pressure switch was removed, water came out with considerable force for a minute or more. Not sure what to look for next, thought the new switch was the answer, any help gratefully received thanks Lyn
