Another intro message...
I am TomatoesintheToilet, and I really do grow tomatoes in the old long-drop! Hi all, I am from Australia, and we live in the bush and so have to do as much for ourselves as we can to live. 'We' are myself, hubby, and our 3 young kids all just living life, and according to most 'doing things the hard way' just because we want to.
Hoping to get to know some like minded 'odd' people, to have a chat, have some fun, and share some info.

Yeah - I know I've already said that, but twice doesn't hurt.

Hi ina, we are in southwest Victoria. I just realized that my seasons are all mixed up to yours - we are just heading into Summer here (tomorrow is forecast to be 39 degrees C) and the bees and garden are getting into full swing. So if I randomly post about summery stuff I do beg everyones pardon. In return, can any kind person tell me all about snow? I have never seen it and am ever so curious.... Like does it feel all powdery like I imagine or is it kind of hard and clumpy?

Re: Another intro message...
Welcome to Ish. We don't really get much snow here in the uk and Ireland, some parts of the uk get a lot of snow like parts of Scotland. Most snow that falls is very watery and soft and turns to slush very quickly as usually the temps warm up and it melts.Winters on the whole are getting warmer, but as a child in the 60's we used to make snowmen and belt each other with snowballs. A few years ago, we had a lot of snow here in Ireland and the temperature dropped to -21 where I am up in the hills. The snow became very powdery and dry and you could roll it into a lovely ball and your hands didn't get wet. The only drawback was, you could only be outside for a matter of minutes as your nose and eyes started to freeze and water that we put down for the animals in the byre froze solid within half an hour, it was unreal. Our water pump froze and it was too cold to go the 300 odd yards down the end of the field to fix it, fortunately, we could melt snow in a pan on our woodstove to make tea, water for the animals to drink and wash up etc. I don't ever want to experience that again and even the auld uns here had never seen the like

I never realized that TomatoesintheToilet can be shortened to TitT. Now I feel slightly rude. Thank goodness I didn't go with my second choice, which was ARoundSolidEgg.Green Aura wrote:Hi TitT and welcome to Ish.
