G'day.
G'day.
G'day everyone. I'm a forager from Queensland, Australia. I love being able to find a meal while I'm just bushwalking or going for a stroll along the coast. I'm just starting to raise snails for food and I'm experimenting with wind power so I can safely set up the kids' cubbyhouse with 12 volt power.
I own a few acres beside a creek and I'm slowly planting it out with fruit trees and other food plants that can look after themselves with minimal help from me. I get black frosts in the little valley I'm in so it's a matter of planting and hoping to get more than a year out of a plant. So far citrus seems like a safe bet. I'm interested in seeing how others solve problems and getting ideas for new ways to stay off the grid and be more self sufficient.

G'day Weedo!
Hi ina. We just had a record breaking Summer over here. The hottest AND driest. Even all the weeds in my yard died! I use Cats-ears as a coffee substitute and my crop shriveled to nothing. My wife and I were thinking seriously about moving to Tasmania when I saw CCTV footage of people wearing jumpers in Hobart at Christmas time.

Same in the Riverina, Very hot & dry - I am dry sowing in the hope of enough rain to germinate the seed. Hobart has a great climate, warmer, drier and sunnier than Melbourne (which means sunnier than Sydney)
IF you rally want a "secure" climate, try King Island - never recorded a drought or frost
