Hi from Wales...soon
Hi - I'm a friend of Hedgewizard who introduced me (and wife Linda) to this site. We currently live in Dorchester but are off to live in S. Wales next month. Much as we love it here (and if you look at www.weebling.com you'll see some of the reasons why) the lure of a 2-acre field has proved too much. We're both keen gardeners and seed-savers, and refuse to kill anything at all (please take note, H-wiz) and have never found the results to be more than a temporary inconvenience!
We're hoping to become more selfsufficientish as time goes by and will be looking at solar, wind and other alternative energy sources as funds permit.
The only thing that worries me about moving to Wales is that I'm not a very good swimmer...

Hi Digiveg, and welcome to the forum!
As a friend of Hedgie's you'll know what kind of folk you are letting yourself in for...
How do you manage in the garden without ever killing anything? I must admit that this year I've been quite rigorous with slugs and leatherjackets. Just too many around of both for my liking.
Whereabouts in Wales are you moving to that you need to be able to swim? A little island off the coast? Or do you reckon they have so much rain that you might need to swim even on your 2 acre plot?

re swimming
Loved the movie - but of course it's drowning in the garden I'm worried about! I've heard water actually falls from the sky in Wales...not like some parts of the UK.

It does rain in Wales - we used to live on the welsh border near Hay on Wye and we had some of the worst flooding I can remember... was interesting but luckily the garden escaped the worst of it - we were flooded in though and couldn't get out for a few days.
Anyway - what has Hedgie done to make you move to Wales lol.
