I'm going to attempt to design a website for my fledgling business. In my possession is a copy of Frontpage 2003 and one copy of Dreamweaver 8.
Bearing in mind that I don't know anything about programming, are there other web page packages that are worth considering? What are your opinions on the aforementioned software?
Your comments are appreciated.

Front Page should go in the bin - an absolutely dreadful programme that writes rubbish code! Dreamweaver is the "industry standard", but fiendishly complicated to learn!
For a simple website, you're probably better off using one of the template systems that often come free with your webspace. 8)

I did a free online course from www.vision2learn.com - it was actually quite good and covered the basic html and at the end of it I had created a 4 page website - only basic... I did the Web Entrepreneur course... this one might be of interest to you. http://www.vision2learn.net/channels/co ... he-web.asp but there are other courses too (not all web stuff)
Funding isn't available for me to do that one now that I've moved back up to Scotland GRRR!!

Thanks for the info, Shirlz and Martin.
I can't do the online course (no funds for my area) but I may be able to do a Dreamweaver course at the local college and get it funded by thos Jolly Europeans in Brussels ...

There's also Nvu, which is an open source product from the Mozilla stable, which also produces Firefox and suchlike. I see it also has its own forum, which could be useful.
Or if you already have the Mozilla Suite, you should have Composer there, too, which Nvu is based upon.
I should point out I've never used either of these, so don't know how good they reallly are. In fact I've never used any web authoring programs - I did get as far as using Notepad and a book of code, but in the end found the whole idea of making web pages a bit beyond my creativity.

Thanks, Muddy.
I've got the Mozilla Suite and I'll look into the NVu stuff at the weekend - there's a wiki, too! 8)
