"Champion of nettles faces sting"

Given my reaction to this article in Saturday's Time I wasn't sure if this should go under "fruit and nuts" but I guess it really goes here.

Let's just hope that the French Food Safety Agency rulings don't make it over the water.

Hmm, maybe it would be worthwhile putting together a fact sheet on organic composts, teas etc & getting someone to translate it into French.

It is a real worry when people risk jail for disseminating useful information. But at least with the Internet, others may be able to help store/promote the information.

By the way, can anyone explain to me what is going on with organic growing & open pollinated/heritage seed in France & the EU generally? I was shocked when I read this:

but I felt a bit too far away to do anything ....
but you guys in the UK are just over the water ....

I've not heard about this new law. :? My French gardening magazine often gives instructions on how to make purin d'ortie and you can find recipes for it all over the internet, just like you can for comfrey!

Sounds tres bizarre to me!

It was always my understanding that the French held such regulations in disdain anyway, and cheerfully ignored any rules they didn't like. It's an admirable attitude in many ways, but it makes driving in French cities, shall we say, exciting?
