Food Steamers

Post: # 34299Post chadspad »

I have just found my food steamer at the back of the cupboard. I had taken it out of the box for storaging purposes (the box was huge) and left the user guide with it. The user guide, however, doesnt tell me how long the veggies should be cooked for!! Does anyone else have one and can we find out if the times are similar please.

The make is HINARI ST318C just incase someone has the exact same one!

I normally only do veggies - but tend to assume that potatoes will take 20-30 mins - along with carrots, ets - cauliflower, etc, about 10-15 and peas etc about 5-10 - depending on how much other stuff you've got going on in there. Use it and just see, is my advice. However, be careful with the hot steam if you open it up to check x

I agree. Dense things like potatoes take longer than light things like courgettes. Things cut up into small pieces cook quicker than great big lumps. But suck it and see. Have a play with puting stuff in the steaming water for flavouring, like white wine, cider, or lemon juice, or with putting flavourings in the baskets amongst the veg, like bay leaves, bits of lemongrass or slivers of ginger.
