And now. a broken toe!

Post: # 37780Post Stonehead »

I was chasing the boys around the house, caught my left little toe on the sofa and snap! :(

It's definitely broken - could feel it grating when I strapped it up, it turned purple within 10 minutes, and it's excruciatingly painful. I also treated it with ice and ibuprofen, but then I had to go out and work in calf deep, sticky mud in the pig pens. To say it was a painful experience is an understatement.

Still, as the Big Lad said, "Don't worry, you've got nine more toes!"

Arnica for the brusing and any swelling. My sister had some nice dimples on her forehead last week from a hockey ball.

Hope it gets better soon.

Steel-toed wellies with enough room for two pairs of socks are a permanent fixture on my feet outside. Of course, that guaranteed I would do something to my feet when inside wearing only the socks...

Neighbour strapping may give a bit more support but watch the colour of the toe, keep elevated when you're not working and at night as that will help the swelling (raise the end of the bed to make it easier)

Kind thoughts

most accidents happen in the home whilst chasing small boys

Get it checked out Stonehead to ensure it's set right other wise you could have problems later

The GP will just neighbour strap it as I've done, tell me to keep it elevated, watch the colour, take painkillers as needed and take it easy. I can manage the first four! (I've done the little toe on the right foot twice before BTW.)

Cheers. That's what I'm doing. As for colour, it's a tri-coloured toe now - purple, red and blue.

Ouch, I know from painful experiance how much this hurts, I was getting ready to go to Donnington a long time ago and was running late as usual, I rang out of the bathroom and caught my little toe on the wall on the way out. It took my breath away, luckily copious ammounts of lager and jack daniels kept the pain away for the weekend, however this was stupid as it still hurts now over ten years later, if I catch it awkwardly and I get a shooting pain, so take of yourself.

aw, be careful stoney!

You have my sympathy, and i second WGA - copious amounts of Jack Daniels are always good for anything painful!
