without a chimney you would have to put some sort of flue in. dunno if you would need planning permission for that.
look for a second hand one. also there are cheaper outlets if you are willing to put it in yourself. depends where in the world you are.
here in the westcountry (uk)
mole valley farmers are one of the cheapest around for off the shelf at around 300 quid for a small one.

Hi
Here in France, they are quite common.
One of the best ways is to ask a chimney sweep if he knows of one for sale. They should be installed using a flue ( used as a liner in an original chimney breast).
Check also what kind of logs you're going to use, some spit and don't burn at all well - year old dry oak is best.

we have burned any old wood on our old woodburner and the chimney sweep said we were doing finelindysman wrote:Check also what kind of logs you're going to use, some spit and don't burn at all well - year old dry oak is best.
Thats the joy of a woodburner.. you can burn spitting wood etc. I would avoid wet wood, as that tends to tar your chimney or flue up. we have burned pallets, fencing post ends, scrap wood of all sorts. its great
dang i want my woodburner installed in my new house
