Worrying Day

Post: # 40722Post cat »

Just got in from the hospital where I've left my OH under observation.
He was decorating up a 3.5 m ladder which slipped and he fell face first onto a ceramic tiled floor. He's really very lucky as he got off "lightly" with a broken shoulder, 4 stiches inside and out of his lip, broken teeth? (not quite sure of the extent of the damage there yet), and various bumps and scratches. He's had a TC scan which was negative but they're keeping him in just in case.

Oh Cat

That's awful - you must be very worried. Big hugs to you and get well soon to your OH.

DONT NOTICE THE TINY FLEA IN THE OTHER PERSONS HAIR AND OVERLOOK THE LUMBERING YAK ON YOUR OWN NOSE.

thank you shirlz and hilldreamer for your kind thoughts.
It's quite a relief that he's in hospital really as he refuses to "be ill". He was alone when he fell, and instead of ringing me he drove the 2 miles home with blood streaming down his face from his nose, mouth and forehead, as white as a sheet. the children opened the door to him and were obviously shocked to see him in that state. Hope they don't have nightmares!

I am very sorry to hear of your other half's accident.

Still not good that he got away with a broken shoulder, very painful, falls from ladders can be so dangerous.(lots of care and attention required when he returns home) Here's wishing him a speedy recovery.

When my husband was a paramedic, he went to so many falls from ladders and especially people falling out of their attics.
If in doubt ~ use a hammer!

And theres me thinking that when you ask a bloke to do some DIY they is on the sofa til you get so sick you DIY!!
Seriously tho we do send our best and hope he's lots better soon - and next time tie the ladder off or make sure its properly footed or if its over 9 feet use scaffolding - nag nag nag from the H&S buff!!!
Take care and hugs to you both and a speedy recovery to hubby - theres a job to finish!! lol  (Lordy with a woman like me don't you just pity Chris!!)

Thank you so much everybody. It helps to feel all your good wishes flying over here! Bruno now has a plastercast from waist to neck with just one shoulder free, which he has to keep for a month. Broken nose and problems with his teeth will be dealt with when the stitches are out and the swelling goes down, but he's already seen specialists for both - looks like 2 operations may be necessary. Heard today that a man in a village 5 miles away did the same thing on the same day and died from his injuries, so we really are counting our blessings.
