That may be so in Scotland. I know of several late entrants to the profession who have had to follow this route or waste an education and expense. I suspect a lot of young trainee solicitors have no problems getting employment straight away.They also use fully trained solicitors who volunteer their time, although usally via appointment and on certian days. I have never come across a trainee solictors when I have used them.

OK, one of the things you can do is contact the crecit reference agencies (Equifax or Experian) and have a voluntary flag put against your name, this doesn't harm your credit rating, but does mean that more than average checks will be made before issuing credit.
How hard can it be, how long can it take. What could POSSIBLY go wrong
